“Every problem is a gift, without problems we would
not grow.”
─ Anthony
Robbins
During our daily life, we've all been busy dealing with our to-do lists. Sometimes we feel stressed and worried about our workloads and tasks in a way that we think they are getting out of our control. Or maybe we feel that we have too much to do that we cannot concentrate on our current work anymore, or we could even be frustrated and paralyzed to take any action towards our goals. There are two main strategies that you can implement into your life style and with a bit of practice you can easily feel that you are in total control of your life and face every challenge without any fear.
1. On a piece of
paper, write down a list of your tasks, works or whatever it is that you have
to do. By writing them down on a piece of
paper, you already get a feeling of control over them. Then try to
order them based on their importance. The importance should be given
by your own desire not anyone else. I mean think about your values and priorities in life and order your tasks in the
same way because if you do something that you don't like or it doesn't have any
value for you, at the end you won't feel satisfied with the results. When you
make the list, you automatically put more of your attention and time on your
inner core values (tasks and actions related to your desires) because you will
start with your most important tasks in your to-do list. In this way, the less
important tasks such as answering back your phone calls, answering back your
emails, doing laundry or whatever will remain as side dishes. I know you
might think that they're also necessary to be taken care of, but if you follow this
strategy, at the end, you will take care of these side dishes (less important
stuff) in a short period of time since they usually don't need your full
potential and energy to be managed. You can have a piece of paper for
each day, and cross the tasks when you're done with them.
2. Train your mind to be always focusing on the
solution not the problem itself. Try to
remember yesterday, the day before, a month before, a year before and so one.
Could you find a day that your mind was completely free of any pattern of
thinking? Of course not, because our mind has been developed in a way to always
come up with processing and interpretation of the things around us (inputs to our brain).
All of us have challenges to cope with in our daily lives. Even if we don't
have any specific challenge, task or job to do, our mind will come up with
the most stupid stuff to get occupied. Probably you've had days with nothing to
do, and you somehow decided to get yourself busy with cooking, cleaning, washing the
dishes, watching movies and so on. As Tony Robbins says "your brain is not
designed to make you happy, it's there to help you survive". The message
is clear, it means that your mind is always coming up with a way to get engaged
with something. So why not engaging its incredible capabilities with the
solutions of the challenges we are facing in our daily life? Isn't it better to
always put your focus and energy on the solutions to be an achiever guy
rather than just focusing on the problems (which usually result in useless act
of blaming others instead of taking accountability)? Anytime facing a challenge
(problem), you can train your mind to this strategy by asking the following
questions: What could I learn from this challenge? How can I take advantage of
this problem? How can I turn this around? You should come up with
a positive mindset and try to find a benefit on your side when you're
facing a problem.
